Eggert sér ekki eftir neinu
Eggert Magnússon segist ekki sjá eftir því að fjárfesta í West Ham, þrátt fyrir erfiða mánuði þar sem ekkert hefur gengið. Liðið mun að líkindum falla niður í 1. deild í vor.
Rætt er um Eggert á SkySport vefnum í dag en við viðtali við The Times viðurkennir hann að ýmislegt hafi komið honum á óvart og að viðskiptahluti félagsins hafi ekki verið með þeim hætti sem hann átti von á.
"Eggert Magnusson insists he has no regrets about leading a takeover of West Ham despite the London club seemingly heading for the Championship.
The Icelandic businessman took charge at Upton Park in November, but results on the pitch have failed to improve despite substantial investment in the playing staff. Alan Curbishley's arrival as boss has only inspired the side to record two wins in their past 13 league games, and The Hammers now have an eight-point gap to close if they are to avoid relegation and the financial problems a demotion to the Championship would incur. Despite experiencing a difficult four months in English football, Magnusson is still happy about his decision to invest his time and effort in the club. "No, I have never [regretted it]," Magnusson told The Times. "It's been a challenge so far, but I'm sure we will get there sooner or later. "I cannot go into details, but some things I discovered when I came here have certainly surprised me. Things were not as good as I thought regarding the club as a business and also what has happened on the field." Magnusson wasted little time in disposing of Alan Pardew following the successful completion of his takeover, and was quoted in February as stating: "There was a cancer we had to cut off." However, the Upton Park chief has now denied making the controversial comments in reference to the now Charlton boss, and has instead pointed the finger at complacency amongst the playing staff. "I never mentioned anything about cancer in the dressing-room, which was reported in the press, but I did say that there were reasons why the team was not performing on the pitch," Magnusson said. "I have been in football almost all my life and sometimes I have had the difficult job of sacking managers, but as chairman you have an obligation to make a decision that is right for the club. "Part of the problem is that in your first season in the Premiership you have some drive and desire to see what you can achieve, but once you have done that, perhaps you think that things will happen by themselves."

Athugasemdir
Menn eru alveg hættir að taka mark á því sem Eggert Magnússon segir. Lýsir yfir fullum stuðningi við knattspyrnustjóra sinn einn daginn, en rekur hann svo næsta dag. Ég held að Eggert sé bara að reyna að friða sálartetrið í sjálfum sér með þessari yfirlýsingu núna. Hann er bara hlægilegur kallinn.
